Challenge #31 Meet Me Under the Mistletoe

Another week has flown past. Still no news to share on the birth of our granddaughter. In fact, our daughter rang me last night to ask if I wanted to go to the baby shop with her today!!! She is now 6 days overdue.
Hopefully it won't be too much longer. If nothing has happened by Monday they will induce her labour.
So.... back to the challenge, lol.
As usual it is anything goes - keep a watch on the challenge blog for the next few challenges as Suzy is hotting things up by introducing an extra twist to our normal theme.
Our sponsor this week is Sparkle N Sprinkle and I popped over to the shop and bought this set which includes a coloured image (which I've used as I was short on time this week), a black and white image and the two sentiments. I put them into word and arranged the words to the side and at the top of my penguin, then printed it all as one image.
Here is my CAS card.....

Recipe:
SU Basic Black cardstock for the basecard and matte
White card from stash
DP from stash
Image is Mistletoe Penguin Digital set from Sparkle N Sprinkle
Bling from stash
D/S tape roller

I have been sorting out my craft room so have been  putting all my scraps together. My card is made completely from my scrap pile. Yeah!!! but it hasn't put a dent in it at all.
Hope to see you entering the challenge this week - we are getting closer to Christmas all the time, lol and soon the pressure will be on to get those cards made. I have a reasonable stash now but still want to do a few special ones for close friends.
Don't forget to pop in and check out all the DT blogs and we would love to hear from you too.
Thanks for stopping by,
Take Care,

Sandy

An Oriental card for my guest spot at Sisterhood of Crafters

Hi everyone, nice to "see" you again. Today is my second posting for The Sisterhood of  Crafters challenge blog. I've had a good morning at craft with a new lady joining in with my small group. Luckily I had taken a few extra bits and pieces so was able to get the new lady straight into making the cards I had designed. We had three cards to make but only got through two of them. Now we have two weeks off as the craft groups run by school terms.
Still waiting for our granddaughter to make her appearance. Our daughter's due date was Sunday so bubs should make an appearance soon.
Well, better get on and share my creation......

Where is the time going? We are two weeks into September already and Christmas is not that far away. Have you started your cards yet? Maybe you would like to join in the Anything Goes challenge at Completely Christmas. It doesn't have to be a card either, it could be a layout or maybe even a Christmas decoration. The only rule is that it has to be Christmas related.
Our sponsor this week is the wonderful Lacy Sunshine - these images are delightful and there are several little characters to choose from in various poses and many themes.
I chose this cutie called Bubbles Ice Skating and decided to make a centre step card.
Here it is......

For a Fine Gentleman - Challenge 115

It's Thursday and there's a new challenge starting at Aud Sentiments Challenge Blog.  The theme for this fortnight is For the Men in Our Life. Our sponsor is Doodle Pantry and I chose this fabulous vintage set to use on my card. It comes with a digi to colour, several pre-coloured images, digi papers and several sentiments. A wonderful set to use for male cards.
I decided to go with a pre-coloured image for my card this time around, one of the papers (which I enlarged slightly) and also one of the sentiments.
Here is my card......

Recipe:
SU Chocolate Chip cardstock for the cardbase and mattes
SU Sahara Sand cardstock for the embossed pieces and a matte.(It looks a bit grey here, but it is a pale brown/sand colour)
Image is from Doodle Pantry - Vintage Gentleman
DP is from the same set
Sentiment also from the set
Cuttlebug embossing folder (not sure of the name - it's one I had before I started saving the packaging)
Punch - oval
SU Chocolate Chip inkpad
Bling from stash

I am entering my card into the following challenges:
Cuttlebug Mania - Anything embossed
Deep Ocean Challenge Blog - Challenge #86 ~ Vintage
Through the Craftroom Door - Anything Goes
Crafty Cardmakers and more - Challenge #122 ~ Make an impression (dry embossing)
Sentimental Sundays - Challenge #223 ~ A Touch of Vintage

This was a reasonably quick card to make due to the wonderful pre-coloured image and the added bonuses of the digi paper and sentiments that came with it. Just had to work out the layout and voila! a great male themed card to add to my already huge stash of cards, lol.
Please pop in to the challenge blog and check out my teamies fabulous makes and we would love to hear from you too. I'm looking forward to seeing all the wonderful creations this time. Some of us find it harder to do male cards and I for one am always open to some inspiration, lol.
Thanks for stopping by today

Sandy

SU Chocolate Chip inkpad

Creative blog tour

(Please scroll down to my post from yesterday - I forgot about it so I would love to know what you think of my cute little car card)

Hi to all who are visiting my blog today. I'm posting today as part of a creative blog hop. No prizes just a little tour around of a few blogs. Last week my dear friend Shirley took place in the hop and nominated my blog to carry on. I haven't chosen anyone yet to follow me so if you would like to join in I would love to hear from you so I can let my readers know whose blog to hop to next.
As a part of the blog hop, there are a few questions to answer.

1. What am I working on?    I teach at a community craft centre and have two ladies that come each Wednesday. It's Royal Show time here this week and I'm going with my daughters and DIL on Wednesday so I have been working on 3 card kits for my ladies to do without me. I usually get them to do all the cutting, stamping etc but this time I've had to do it for them. I'm all done now and just need to print off some pics of the completed cards so they know what to put where, lol. Luckily I attend choir with one of the ladies and can hand over the kits tomorrow.

2. How does my work differ from others.  I'm mainly a CAS card creator but try every now and again to add more embellishments. So I don't think I'm much different to many crafters around the world. I love both extremes of card making and admire fabulous embellished cards and the perfectly executed CAS card as well.

3. Why do I create what I do?  I originally started through our church minister who wanted to try and get a craft group going as a church outreach. I was the co-ordinator and arranged for a couple of teachers and a few people to come along to learn. I got interested in paper embroidery and iris folding and eventually stamping which I had always said I wouldn't because of all the extra cost. Well, lol, I got hooked and now my friends refer to my craft gear as my shop!!!   I love making cards and the best part is the friendships I have gained along the way. I also enjoy teaching and I'm always willing to share when I learn a new technique or a new card fold. We never stop learning either so I enjoy seeing what others create.

4. How does my creative process work? Sometimes ideas just pop into my head or I see something in a magazine that gets me thinking and the internet is a fabulous source with so many creative artists of every calibre to inspire me.

I'm sharing one of the cards that I made for my two ladies with you.
Here it is...

Recipe:
Pink cardstock from stash for the basecard - Quill Brand I think
SU Baked Brown Sugar cardstock for the mattes and punched scalloped oval
DP is from a magazine freebie - papers, images and sentiments
Image is also from the magazine freebie
Sentiment is from SU Express Yourself
Punches - SU Large Oval and Scalloped Oval

I am entering my card into the following challenges:
Crafting From The Heart - Challenge 35 ~ Anything Goes
Suzy Bee's Bloomin Challenge - Challenge #44 ~ Anything Goes
Sister Act Card Challenge - Challenge #73 ~ Anything Goes

I needed something without too much stamping as I won't be at craft and I usually bring all the stamps, dies, punches, inks etc with me. I don't normally make up kits only sample cards for them to copy or change around if they so desire!

I hope you've enjoyed visiting and learning a bit about me and will be back to find out the next blog to hop to. Would love to hear from you. If you haven't visited Shirley's blog why not pop in and see her too.
Thanks for stopping by,
Take care,
Hugs,
Sandy
